Did your outdoor picnic with family and children turn into a muddy mess? Ouch! Well, don’t let this dampen your mood or prevent you from creating those lasting memories all over again.
Launderette is right here to let you know everything about getting those clothes looking clean and fresh.
We are often told to tackle almost all kinds of stains immediately but when it comes to those nasty mud stains, there’s simply no rush. Chill, have a drink and wait till it dries up 🙂
Let it Dry & Scrape It Off
Yes! You heard it right. Hold that itch to wipe off that mud stain while it’s still wet, it’ll only make matters worse and smear the stain right into the fabric.
Once the stain feels light in colour, has a cakey and crumbly appearance, it’s time to get to work.
Take a blunt object like a butter knife or a spoon and scrape off the excess mud from the fabric. Don’t be tempted to dig into the fabric and put too much pressure, just move the butter knife lightly in the direction of the fibers.
Pre-treat the Stain
Once you’ve removed large pieces of mud, take a soft bristle brush and remove the excess particles, and give it a quick wipe with your hand.
Pour some liquid detergent over the stain and rub it gently, this will help loosen the stain. Now relax and sit back for 15-20 minutes.
Wash. Wash. Wash
You can opt for the hand wash method or simply toss the fabric into the machine. Don’t miss out on following the directions present on the label and make sure you use normal to lukewarm water.
Note: If you feel traces of stain still remain try using stain remover, and repeat the last 2 steps.
If everything above fails, or you don’t feel like dealing with nasty stains, you may want to consider sitting back, unwinding, and downloading Launderette – the best Laundry & Dry-cleaning app in town.
